Donald Trump Fires His Own Presidential Ambitions

As promised, the month of May is producing a significant amount of clarity in the developing Republican presidential field. At the beginning of the month, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour announced he would not run for President. This Saturday, former Governor Mike Huckabee declared that he would not be a candidate in 2012, and now we have learned that real estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump will not be running for President. In an early afternoon statement released by the Trump organization, (see the complete press release below this…

Airtime for the backups

Aside from Tim Pawlenty, going into last night’s debate I think most pundits considered these to be second tier candidates. After last night, I will admit that the perception that most of these candidates don’t have a viable shot probably hasn’t changed. However, there were clear winners and clear losers. Here is my take on the debate, which at times will be blunt and harshly honest: Tim Pawlenty Pawlenty demonstrated why he is a top tier candidate. He was professional, studied, and Presidential. He took clean shots at Obama and…

Trump Scheduled to Headline Iowa Republican Dinner

Trump Scheduled to Headline Iowa Republican Dinner

Two weeks after dispatching a top aide to meet with Iowa State Republican Chairman Matt Strawn, Donald Trump has been invited by Strawn to headline the state’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner as the keynote speaker. Strawn stated that the invitation was extended in order to give Trump the opportunity to introduce himself to the activists within the Party. It is highly unlikely that the Republican Chairman of the state with the first in the nation caucus would extend such an opportunity to someone who is not leaning towards a run…

Is Trump Trustworthy?

Is Trump Trustworthy?

We’ve heard it before. In fact, our current President stood before the nation and told us that he believed that marriage was a union between one man and one woman. Since then, Obama has stirred controversy by refusing to defend the current law on the books that defines marriage that way. In fact, before the ink was dry on the administration’s statement that they would no longer defend DOMA in court, prop 8 opponents in California had quotes from the statement prepared in a lengthy legal document requesting a stay…

The Neapolitan Party

The Neapolitan Party

Early on in this race, we are starting to see a clear breakdown in the Republican party into three distinct flavors. The question will be whether one candidate can unite the party once the others have melted away. The social conservatives are known for their stances on family values, morality, and for some, Christianity. They are the candidates that the Family Research Counsel and American Family Association would love to see win. They are openly supportive of the TEA Party movement and are popular among talk radio listeners and Glenn…

He has…

Trump Talks Politics with Rush

Donald Trump added legitimacy to his conservative Presidential prospects on Tuesday by appearing on the Rush Limbaugh show to defend contributions to Rahm Emmanuel and to discuss what he calls “stupid” foreign policy. Trump stated that his agent for The Apprentice is Rahm Emmanuel’s brother Ari Emmanuel and there was no Republican running in Rahm’s race, which is why he contributed to him. Trump hinted that friendship and loyalty were very important to him. He also admitted that he liked Rahm Emmanuel as a person. Trump argued that we need…
